was a foolish nation that found the lord, he says “I was found of them that sought me not”. No gentile sough the Lord, yet he was made manifest to you and I.
All heard the Gospel in Israel, they heard it over and over during the millennia before Christ came. They heard it again when he walked the shores of Galilee and climbed the mountains of Judea. They heard it yet again during the lifetime of the Apostles of the Lord in the first century. and you have heard it if you have listened to this message. All heard the Gospel, the most incredible hope for all the world.
The Bible teaches that “faith commeth by hearing”, it is when the word of God is heard that people respond. Not all will accept the Gospel, yet it is that alone that has been ordained by God to reach the lost.
They Have Not All Obeyed The Gospel 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? (Rom 10:16) I remember when I was a boy watching the television series Get Smart (It was the original show with Don Adams not the new one with Steve Carell). There was always a secret envelope for the mission that Smart was commanded to undertake. He had to ensure he understood the message properly, that he got…
How Beautiful The Feet Of The Heralds of Hope 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? The Stumblingstone The stumblingstone in the passage of Romans 9:30-33 is the true Gospel through which many stumble over. Israel “stumbled at that stumblingstone” says Paul in the passage in Romans, because they sought their hope through the following the righteousness of the Law and not the righteousness that is in Christ, they sought it not by faith. There is no possibility of attaining heave through our own effort, Peter refered to it as a “yoke” in Acts 15, a…
“I Will Call Them My People Which Were Not My People” Romans 9:25, Paul the apostle quoting the book of Isaiah referring to the Israelites, the disobedient and gainsaying people, but also an allusion to you and I. Unlike Israel, gentiles could never make the claim that we were ever Gods people. If we were brought not nigh by the blood of Christ, we too should have been ‘like unto Sodoma and made like unto Gomorrah’. But we were brought nigh, we were not the people of God, but faith in Christ turned us about. So too will it be for Israel, a remnant indeed shall be saved.
Perhaps it may seem unusual for the Bible to describe the manifestation of the riches of the Glory of God as that represented in his sovereignty as it does so wonderfully in Romans 9:14-24, yet that is exactly how Paul ascribes the manner in which The Lords Glory is known.
