The Coming Global Currency
It is what first drew my attention to the possibility of having a way to identify if the Bible is true. The mark of the beast is not something that you hear about in every day conversation, but it is found very clearly presented in the Bible. If the mark of the beast is the endgame, what does the journey toward it look like? Is this one of the signs of the end of the world that was enquired of?
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
Jesus then goes on to spend a great deal of time giving to his disciples the signs for the end of the world.
It is the significant signs that the Bible refers to that we are dealing with in this series.
Tonight we are looking at Revelation that speaks of an event that will be fulfilled during the period in history that is known COMMONLY as The Apocalypse, it is a specific period of a total length of SEVEN Years, and it has specific events occurring that we should even now see the preparation of.
Tonight we are dealing with the Mark of the beast and the coming of A Global Currency.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
INTERPRETATION
This evening we are going to do what all Christians who believe their bibles should be doing, and that is taking out of the scriptures exactly what God has put in them.
The only way we can do that is to believe that God means what he says and says exactly what he means.
We do NOT need to add to the scriptures what it DOES NOT say.
In this passage of the Bible we can see with clarity that there is an overarching control of the population of the world.
If you listened to the first message this morning, it was clear that it would take a global governing authority to rule over the world in such a way as to ensure such restrictions were put in place and enforceable.
Within this passage we have two items which are inextricably linked.
One is a mark, also known as “the mark of the beast”
The other is a form of exchange, that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark
We are going to consider both of these items in the detail limited by the time we have available.
The Nature of The Mark
The Location of the Mark
The Universal Nature of Exchange
The Controlling Nature of Exchange
The Nature The Mark
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
There have indeed been a multitude of speculative ideas respecting the nature of the mark of the beast.
From Tattoos of a bar code imprinted on the skin, to chips imbedded under the skin, to complete genome identity alterations, and recently to a 5G Equipped Vaccine identity protocol.
But one thing is certain for us and that is that the Lord desires none would ever take the mark, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God is simply “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet 3:9)
If the very reason Jesus came to live and to give himself as a sacrifice for your personal sin, if he indeed came to seek and to save that which is lost, then it stands to reason that the Lord cares deeply for all people.
I say this because one thing is abundantly certain is that the Bible also teaches with clarity that all who take this mark upon themselves are doomed to hell even before their death.
Scripture gives a complete alteration to that which presently seals a persons fate: IE: from death, to the taking of the mark.
We often encourage all people to accept Christ as their Saviour, because none know the day of their death, EVEN THOUGH ALL KNOW THEY WILL DIE, yet for as long as they have breath in them, they have opportunity UNTIL THEY DIE.
But in Revelation 14 there is a dramatic change to this principal.
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,….
Again, here is reflected the concern of the Lord for people, all people, GOD has an angel crying out with a loud voice the explicit warning against any who take the mark of the beast.
But notice,
“If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”
It was once death which sealed for ever the fate of the damned.
It was up to their final breath that still gave hope to the lost, but here, it is the taking of this mark that would seal the eternal torment of all who take this mark.
It is LOGICAL THEN THAT God desires we would have CLARITY in understanding the nature of this mark.
This passage MUST NOT BE VAGUE, but clear.
And we do no justice to the Lord, nor to the lost, to make the passage respecting the nature of the mark, as a vague, mystical idea that simply cannot be directly brought out of the text.
If you needed to be told some dark secret thing that is not evidently seen here, feel free to flush it. Its either WRONG or INCONSEQENTIAL TO YOUR NEEDS, and will most likely do more harm than good!
It must be clear, for that fits both the nature of God and the extent of the danger to man.
- So, The first part therefore that we understand about the Nature of the Mark is that it damns the recipient.
- The second part we understand about the mark, is that it is an identifier;
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
45 times the word mark appears in the Bible, 40 out of the 45 times it relates to an identifying atribute. (5 times it refers to John Mark).
Do not print any marks upon you…Relates to the prohibition of tattoos in Leviticus 19:28
Mark the place where he shall lie..Relates to identifying a point of reference in Ruth 3:4
Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief…The king wants his elders to consider and recognize how this foreign enemy is seeking a quarrel against him, in 1 Kings 20:7
The first time the word ‘mark’ appears in the Bible is when God had placed an identifier upon Cain so clear that it warned all who might try to kill him. We have no idea what that mark was, nevertheless is was a clear identifier that was designed to protect Cain. (Gen 4:15)
It is that way all through the Bible.
Again, the second part we understand about the Mark is that it is an identifier.
- The third part we understand about the mark is that it identifies allegiance
it is the name of the beast, or the number of his name. and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
Any footy supporter knows what that’s like. You know the colours of your footy jumper identifies the team you have your loyalty toward.
You also know that the number you carry on your back is the number that identifies a player of that team that you prefer above all other players in all other footy teams.
So too it is respecting this mark.
The Nature of the Mark;
- It damns the recipient. (That’s important to know)
- It is an evident identifier
- It identifies allegiance
The Location of the Mark
The next point that we will consider is its location.
He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, (NKJV)
Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead (ESV)
He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, (NIV 1984)
It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads (NIV 2011) * two right hands?
He required everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to be given a mark on the right hand or on the forehead. (New Living Translation)
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark intheir right hand, or in their foreheads: (KJV)
Ok, sorry, its clear that the location matters. It makes no difference to you if the mark you get you just go home and stick it in your draw.
It makes no difference if the mark you put on, you can take off at will.
But it clearly does make a difference if the mark you receive is placed inside you.
You need to get this right, else you may be fooled.
Many years ago I subscribed to what was being promoted as a “Christian” television station. There was a program called the 700 club, and on this particular day they had a representative from VeriChip to speak about the fears people have of taking the Mark of the beast.
The representative got a Bible out and said that you do not have any fear with regards to the product they were developing. Because the Bible speaks of the mark as receiving it ‘ON the hand’ or ‘ON the forehead’, but you see, our product goes “IN” and not ‘ON’.
I was astounded and frantically searched for my Bible. I had been already studying the differences between versions and settled on the KJV. I opened my Bible to Revelation 13:16 and read with amazement;
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark intheir right hand, or in their foreheads: (KJV)
I got my NIV and read it from there.
I got my NKJV and read it from there.
I got my New Living Bible and read it from there
I got my New Revised Standard Bible and read it from there
All of them said “ON”.
I then went to my computer, as I had another 30 modern versions there, all of them said “ON”.
I then went to the older versions, and to my complete amazement, all of the versions before the KJV said “IN” just like the KJV, but all the versions AFTER THE KJV say “ON”.
It was then that I identified who the REAL AUTHOR of the modern versions is!
It was the one that wants to see everyone in hell!
The location of the mark of the beast is going to be “IN” the Right hand, or “IN” The forehead.
It will be evident and identifiable,
and it will align your allegiance to the antichrist as opposed to Christ.
Finally: it will damn ALL people who accept it, WITHOUT EXCLUSION.
And ALL PEOPLE WILL HAVE A CHOICE according to scripture.
Like the efforts that will come respecting vaccinations for the entire world, it won’t be mandatory, you will have a choice, but in that choice you will either gain or lose privileges.
Just so respecting the mark of the beast;
Rev 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
You will have a choice, and the privilege you lose, is life.
Sounds serious, makes it almost compelling to take the mark doesn’t it?
What gives clarity however is the nature of that life. There are only two differences between the person who takes the mark and the person who does not.
- Those who take the mark get to live a maximum of an extra 3.5yrs until Jesus comes against them. (This event occurs half way through the seven year tribulation period)
- The second difference is eternity. One in hell, the other in glory.
The Universal Nature of Exchange
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
This is where we get to the potential of a sign.
The text tells us that this mark will provide the privilege of exchange and assume the controlling ability for the exchange.
The mark itself either permits or limits;
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark
It is with this verse, and the context of the passage of Revelation 13 in general, that we come to recognise that this is speaking of a global currency, a global medium of exchange to which people might buy or sell.
The mark is imbedded under the skin, and has the ability within itself to permit or deny the purchase of goods.
What we have here cannot speak of physical monetary units. That is literally impossible to police to the extent that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark.
There are not too many options.
If the unit of exchange is not physical, then what else can it be?
It must be digital!
Beloved, what we have is a level of technological advancement that permits or denies the exchange of goods or services, imbedded under the skin, aligned to an individual and global in scope.
Is there any time in history before that there could reasonably have witnessed such a sign?
Do we have such a technology today?
It does not take much imagination today to demonstrate such a technology.

Ok, so we have the technology,
but has there ever been the desire to create a single global currency?
KEYNOTE: Quotes
Ok, so we have the technology, and there has obviously been many people who have pushed for a single global currency, but there is no way the world will accept it, at least not in my lifetime!
Ive been told that on so many occasions, AND I AGREE, at least when it comes to the voluntary acceptance of it by the people of the world.
No person in their right mind would be willing to accept a cashless system, if they knew the ramifications, let alone a GLOBAL single currency system willingly!
That’s right.
What would it take to see the creation of a single global currency in our lifetime?
A PERFECT STORM
A storm mixed with just the right level of economic deprivation, mixed together with a trigger point.
And it must be GLOBAL.

But what makes all of this so difficult for us to process and so depressing to absorb is the recognition of its proximity.
When prophecy was spoken about in the days where little was evident, there was a willingness to hear and an excitement of that which the Bible speaks of concerning the things to come, particularly if you trust the Bible’s teaching of the rapture of the Church.
But when the prophetic events are so close in proximity, so close that they are even “at the door” as Jesus said in Matt 24:33, it compels us to re-evaluate our lives, even to interrupt our plans in some way.
Can I suggest to re-evaluate it for the sake of the Gospel?
we are commanded only to be “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” that Paul wrote of to Titus 2:13.
Beloved, prepare to remain right until the day before that event, even though the Lord may still come at any moment.
Beloved, let know man and no event rob you of the joy you have in Christ Jesus.
Turn in our last passage to 1 Thessalonians 4:13
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
