Sermons on 1 Corinthians
Pt 21: Shun False Brethren
“…not to company…”, today few can identify what sin is let alone be willing to shun the man who claims to be a brother doing evil.
The Church is charged to “put away from among yourselves that wicked person”. Paul here testifying that the individual who ‘calls himself a brother’ (1 Cor 5:11), is false, indeed a “wicked person” (v13).
Our Church has seen much of this in the last two years, the Pastor has witnessed much more. Most tragic of all is that which comes from what was believed to be a faithful man, a man who betrays the Character of Christ, not in open sin, but in judgement, hypocrisy and wilful ignorance.
The Laodicean Church will continue to develop until the return of the Lord, for it will not call sin and sin, and it will not deal with sinners nor have any respect for those who do.
Those who justify evil condemn that which is good.
Shun false brethren, be not caught up in their sin (see Numbers 16)
Pt20: A Little Leaven
We live in a time when any mention of sin is turned away from in modern Churches. When this happens it is inevitable that it will inevitably permeate the entire Church, all it takes is a little leaven, a little sin and it acts like yeast in bread to corrupt the whole.
Tragically, when that which is evil (sinful) becomes tolerated in a place where the desire is toward all that is good (holy), it does not take long before it is justified, when sin is justified then all which might condemn it as evil becomes considered at evil.
Suddenly, Isiah 5:20 becomes the reality in the Church. Evil is seen as good, good is seen as evil.
If this becomes the common state of the Church (and it is), what then becomes of the world?
The Disciples Examination
The Disciples Examination 1 Corinthians 4:14–21 14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance…
Pt 16: Seek The Wisdom of God Alone
Pt 16 Wisdom Is Of God Alone 1 Corinthians 3:16-23 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, whichtemple ye are. 18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is…
Pt 14 LABOURERS TOGETHER
Pt 14 Labourers Together Pt 14: Labourers Together WITH God. 1 Corinthians 3:5–10 5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. 8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his…
Pt 8 The Hidden Wisdom
It is not the wisdom of the world that leadsmen to heaven, it is the wisdom of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ, the hidden wisdom.
PT 3: EXPECTED
“waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:” (1 Cor 1:7).
In order to deny the pre-tribulational rapture of the Church there are several areas of the Bible that must first be rejected; The evident Biblical Distinction between the Church and IsraelThe clear historical gap concerning the biblical prophecies of Messiah and Gods judgment which were not evident in the Old Testament but revealed in the New.
The imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ for his Church. Each one of the above doctrines must be denied by each and every pastor who rejects the Pre-Tribulational Rapture of the Church.
Therefore we begin with one question; When is the return of Jesus EXPECTED?
