Seek The Truth
It’s during times of increasing confusion in the world that people will tend to one of two opposing alternatives, seek the truth of a matter or condescend to the obscurity evident in the world. There is in this article a call for all people to the former and to avoid the latter at all costs.
Truth is to be sought with all diligence, nothing wavering. We need wisdom to seek the truth of a matter, and it seems to be noted as the noblest pursuit in the Bible;
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”
Proverbs 4:7
In a world seemingly void of truth, to seek the truth is indeed the most vital of all pursuits and we should do so with all our hearts. Not the transient subjective ideas that parallel opinion (“your truth, my truth” etc), but the singular absolute truth that is true for all people for all time. The only place for it objectively is found in the most maligned and neglected book of the 21st Century, The Bible (The King James Bible, for English speaking people).
For the first century in history, the Bible is more denied as the absolute source of truth than it is accepted, for the first period in the last two thousand years the secular world as a whole have denied the Bible out of principle, while the majority of what passes as Judeo Christianity denies it in practice. Yet it stands sure and true and is testified to by the evidence of every passing day, even the evidence that surrounds its very rejection.

It is no coincidence that the rejection of the Book of Peace will take away peace from the people who reject it. It is no coincidence that people are more violently opposed to one another more today than in any other time in history, just as the rejection of the Bible is greater today than any other time in history.
People simply cannot know the truth of any matter when they have rejected the only source of absolute authority that can provide the answers. God created this world to function well in direct accord to the principals found in the Bible, but when those principals are wholeheartedly rejected, it should not surprise us that society will cease to function as God had intended. Indeed, it is identified in the same Book that the latter days will see the complete subverting of the culture of the world toward a perilous outcome.
2 Timothy 3:1-5
“ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
The actions described above speak evidently of the days we find ourselves in today. The consequences of those things have the natural effect of creating division between people even though the advertised desire in the world is unity.
Those who are described as “lovers of their own selves” can hardly know what it is to love and place the needs of others above themselves. Those identified as “Covetous, boasters” do therein consider themselves as perfectly just and entitled to all benefit at the expense of others. The ‘covetous’ lust after the goods of others; the ‘proud’ exalt themselves above the selfless care of others.
Those who are “blasphemers” and disobedient to parents, unthankful and unholy cannot thereby have natural affection, for in blighting the God who gave them life by using his own name as a curse word (blasphemy). It is not possible for the sibling to have a thankful reverence to parents when their natural affection toward them is displaced by self-absorbed, proud entitlement. These then naturally become “trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God”.
So, we see that in the very days when the Bible is rejected, the evident truth of the Bible is being manifested in the social fabric of the world that surrounds us just in this one solitary example, yet the Bible is filled with such evidence. Many people will not seek the truth and have rejected The Book of truth in these “latter days”, yet this has ironically manifested the truth of the Book they have rejected. The irony being lost on almost all but those who have long trusted the Bible as their source of peace and comfort…and truth!
We need to “put on Truth“, and the personification of Truth is Jesus Christ, he indeed is “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6), our embrace of him as the “light of the world” will not see us walk in darkness, on the contrary, we will have the “light of life” (see John 8:12). But our rejection of him personally will leave us groping in the dark for a wall; our rejection of both the Bible and of Christ leaves us in obscurity with little hope of the comfort that is found in the light of the Word of God.
The promise we have to the diligent who search for that singular truth is found in Jeremiah 29:13 “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”.
With all confidence then, we can know that those who seek the truth, shall indeed find it (Matthew 7:7).
