176 Words on 176 Verses. Ps 119:14

176 words on 176 Verses     Ps 119:14.

“I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies,

As much as in all riches.”

(Ps 119:14)

I certainly am numbered with the many who thought to rejoice in riches. It was King Solomon, a man who not only attained to that which I sought but hastened to that end more than any other man (Eccl 2:25), his answer? “All is vanity and vexation of spirit” (Eccl 2:11). Indeed, what I discovered is that nothing can compare to the joy found in the way of the Lords testimonies, certain it is that they are sweeter than honey in the honey comb (Ps 19:10), they convert the soul, make wise the simple, rejoice the heart and enlighten the eyes (Ps 19:7-8) and there is no question in my mind, as certain also in the minds of great kings, that the testimonies of the Lord are more to be desired than Gold (Ps 19:10).

Why then do we return to the dross of worldly riches? Have we been convinced that the words of the Lord are lost, no longer pure or at least compromised by the vanity of men? But did he not promised to preserve ALL his words? (Ps 12:7-7)
