“ Blessed art thou, O Lord: Teach me thy statutes.”

 (Ps 119:12)

We speak of God as Blessed, and that he is indeed. When asked of Christ to identify himself he was asked precisely if he was “the Son of the Blessed” (Mrk 14:61), there was no doubt of whom they spoke. The Lord is indeed ‘Blessed’, this is not a description of his state of being, or the well doing of his life, but a description of that which he is.

The Lord is the personification of The Blessed and we share in his state when we are willingly taught by his statutes. Paul the apostle tells us that he is indeed “the blessed God” and the Gospel that he preaches belongs to him and to no other (1 Tim 1:11). This is that Gospel, the preeminent statute of the Lord, that we are committed to teach to all mankind. If mankind should learn of that statute then all of mankind will share in the Blessed state of the Lord.

What a joy that brings, how is it that mortal man might inherit that which only the Lord personifies?
