“I will delight myself in thy statutes:
I will not forget thy word.”
It is difficult to forget the things we have delighted ourselves in. That which grieves us and makes things difficult in our life, that which causes pain and heartache are all willfully forgotten for none of them are delighted in. But that which brings joy to our hearts and puts a spring in our step and motivates us to forge ahead even in times of trouble, these are things we do not forget.
This is the work and promise of the words of God, they encourage us and motivate us to live life to the full, this is why Jesus came and it is exactly what he promised saying, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (Jn 10:10).
This is The Word promising to us all that which concerns his word. He promises an abundance for which we will delight in, statutes which can direct our paths, how then can we forget his words?
