“ Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.”
The most assured way to not wander from his commandments is to hide his word in our hearts. But what miracle is this? Can we truly presume that a word hidden in our heart can keep us from sin?
We can if that word is Gods own word. We are reminded that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable to perfect a man (2 Tim 3:16). Note that it “IS GIVEN” and not ‘WAS given’, the term is present in tense and therefore abides preserved for us, but what better preserver can the heart be?
Certain it is then that his word, hidden within our hearts, can turn our programed sin nature to that which will not ‘wander from his commandments’. We come to think of that binary code that programs computers; is it possible to consider that those words which perfect a man can program life in him rather than death? For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom 6:23)
