“Toto, I’ve A Feeling We’re Not In Kansas Anymore”

The other side of the rainbow was not as Dorothy imagined. It was a world of make believe, a world that was not real, a world of imaginary creatures, a world distinct from anything she was accustomed to. Kansas was a tornado away. And while a return to reality required but a few clicks of her heals, she would remain in a world of make believe for a time.
It’s difficult to know if we are waking up to a world of make believe or if we are seeing the “real world” today? What is true? What is right or wrong? What is good or evil? We seem to be living through the midst of the inversion written of long ago to a people who had rejected God, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).
An Impossible Law
In July this year our Australian Government refused to entertain even the discussion of a Bill to clarify Biological Sex to ensure the Sex Discrimination Act of 1984 has clarity over what a woman or a man is.
How can we discriminate between the sexes, when there is no way to discriminate between the sexes? The act itself seems obsolete if biological genders can’t be identified.
When the popularity of a woman who murdered her three small children in cold blood moves to a miss trial, with only one solitary juror believing her to be guilty of the Murders she confessed to, we come to realise we are beyond the tipping point. This is not the point of inversion, twilight has just past and we are entering a new dark age.
“Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?” (Amos 5:18-20)
The Extremity Of Contradiction.
The natural expectation of the mother is that of nurture.
Absolute dependance requires absolute care. It is impossible for a child to live and thrive on its own accord the moment it comes into the world, every child is absolutely dependant upon those who brought it into the world, to care for them, love them, nurture them until they are able to stand on their own two feet. The natural expectation of the mother is that of nurture. Who could possibly think that a mother would wilfully murder the very children who naturally expect love and nurture?
Murdering your own children is the extremity of contradiction.
John David Battaglia’s defence attorneys argued that he was diagnosed with psychosis and bipolar disorder, and therefore not criminally responsible for the murder of his two daughters. The jurors deliberated for a grand total of 19 minutes before convicting Battaglia on Capital Murder and sentenced him to be executed. The sentence was carried out by lethal injection on February 1st, 2018.[1]
Constance Fisher murdered her three children in 1954. After drowning her children, her testimony, like that of Linsay Clancy, was hearing voices in her head to “save them from evil”, claiming God had ordered her to kill them. She was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and committed to a mental institution for several years. Politics gave way with what seemed to be a global effort at the time to deinstitutionalise mental patients and she was released in 1959. She rejoined her husband, had three more children and murdered each of them the same way she did the first three on the 30th June 1966.[2]
These two earlier cases must be taken on their individual merits before consideration of any special discrimination between the sexes are invoked, nevertheless it is clear that one from of justice prevented further injustice while the other did not. And both cases speak of the horror felt by their respective communities.
The Linsay Clancy case however indicates a shift, a clear division in sentiment and a clear inability of a people who can longer discern between good and evil.
Women dressed in pink are lining the streets celebrating Lindsay Clancy for chasing down her three-year-old son Dawson, to strangle him to death with her exercise bands. “Go to God” she said to Dawson, to Cora (5yrs) and to her eight-month-old baby Callan as they watched their mother take their life. Is this the new example for a mother? One woman testified of Clancy acting out the ultimate liberation of women.
The Lie In My Right Hand
We are certainly not in Kansas anymore; in fact one may argue that we never were. We are awaking to a reality of a world in the consequence of their rejection of God and the truth that stems from him and his words. The conscience seared as with a hot iron.
We are not in an imaginary world, we are in the real world with real consequences to denying the reality of a world created for a purpose, created with laws which govern it, created by the hand of a loving God who gave to man the free will to choose to trust him or not. ‘Kansas’ may be a similitude of a world that once believed God at his Word, that once believed the gospel and the reality of why Jesus came and died, a tornado of sin and deception has turned the world to live life in a lie.
“He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?” (Isaiah 44:20)
We have The Book of history that testifies with absolute certainty what happens to a people when they turn away from God. Israel is a living testimony with a living history recorded in a living book.
The account in Isaiah above shows a people planting a tree, feeding it and watching it grow, only to cut it down, be warmed by the fire it produces when burned, enjoy a meal through the food its heat helps cook, then carve the residue into a god to worship. The absolute vanity of a deceived heart that falls “down to the stock of a tree” (Isa 44:19), without a single thought saying “Is there not a lie in my right hand?”.
This is a world that is cascading toward Revelation 13. A world that had received the truth of the gospel, a world transformed when the hearts of multitudes were turned to God, a world that began to prosper almost 20 centuries ago as hearts where transformed from pagan godlessness and the dark ages it fostered, to the light of the renaissance and the enlightenments in science, music, art and thought. Having seen the light however, man has preferred the darkness (see John 3:19) for one last time.
No Coming Back
Never has a nation returned to God and the Bible after it was first embraced and prospered by it. The protestant reformation originated in Germany and revival around the world ensued for several centuries as it spread, but German “Higher Criticism” whispered the original serpents doubt, “hath God said”. That new doubt in the Bible precipitated the bloodiest century of history as Germany began two world wars. Wars begun by the nation that first embraced and then rejected the gospel.
The “Morning Star” of the reformation was John Wycliffe in England. This nation produced the greatest translation of the Bible in history, and in a language that would one day be the language of the entire world. England fostered the greatest revivals around the world but today has become a virtual Islamic Califate.
Discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, and founded as a nation in 1776, the land of freedom became the shining light of freedom and prosperity for the world. The new “Promised Land” it was referred to by the Plymoth Colony as they stepped off a merchant ship known as The Mayflower, with bible in hand.
The United States of America was known for its “Church on every corner” and “One Nation Under God”. Its banknotes stated, “In God We Trust”. Its Laws founded on the Bible; the Westminster system and its three branches of government, (Legislative, Executive and Judicial), kept separate and distinct recognising the need to hold men accountable. The people prospered; the people were free. Imperfect though it was, the United States demonstrated to the world what might come of a people who held to God.
The fall from grace in the United States of America is the fall for the world. There are no more just worlds to turn to when justice is lost there. The assassination of Charlie Kirk a year ago was possibly the closing parenthesis of that nation’s prosperity.
One may wonder why the final book of the Bible is called The Revelation. Perhaps it’s not an imaginary world we have been carried away to with Kansas left behind. Perhaps it won’t be three clicks of our heals with an incantation that takes us home. Perhaps that which will be revealed in The Revelation is the removal of the veil between the physical and the spiritual world.
We see around us that evil is no longer trying to hide. Hollywood and the Music industry seems to be doing all it can to reveal the evil of its innerworkings. It is as if Satan is simply itching to come out of the closet preparing to divide the world between those who will one day side with The Beast, and those on the Lord’s side.
Our Purpose
The disciples did not fight a political fight. Jesus never called to press the world into a mold from the outside, but to change the hearts from the inside. The “good fight” Paul charged to Timothy was “the good fight of faith”, and to “lay hold in eternal life” (1 Tim 6:12). It was this “good fight” Paul claims to have fought at the end of his life, and for that there is laid up for him “a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day”, but he continues to speak of you and I in that notice to Timothy;
“…and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
The Bible sets our purpose and set our course. Jesus speaks to all we are to concentrate on that we may know how to please him. There are certainly many battles in this world to fight, all of which are noble and good, but an awareness of the times in which we live is crucial.
“The children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…” (1 Chron 12:32).
It is crucial for us to be settled in our purpose while we await the Lord’s coming. He is the general, and while there are many battles around us, there is but one battlefront he has set us to fight. Do you know yet what it is?
“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” (2 Tim 2:4)
